Queensize Bed | Made in the Mid 2000’s

From the archives; the Queen size bed I made for myself back in 2006 - the 'average' photos are from a very early digital camera. It's been to Perth and back to Adelaide and still looks every bit as good as the day I built it.

A journey back in the archives from 2006 I think it was. I had a full time job in web development and sub-leased part of a studio nearby the office in the back-streets of Adelaide City. I spent many a night toiling away in there; needless to say I didn’t have the constraints of a family back then.

I made this bed over several months with a minimal tool set; much less than I have today. Basically a track-saw (the first decent power tool I bought – a Festool TS-55 EBQ which is still going strong today), a couple of routers, a drill press, a few decent HNT hand planes, various old chisels and pre-loved beast of a mitre saw.

Timber used include: WA Karri (up-cycled from A-Grade floor boards), reclaimed Oak, Mountain Ash, Jarrah and European Elm.
