Presentation Folder Design

I was assigned the task to design a Presentation Folder when working as in-house designer for Ron Mack Machinery in Perth during the late 2000’s

I had reasonable scope for creativity on this project. With full colour, full bleed printing, plus matte varnish and UV spot printing this certainly pushed my print experience at the time.

A project from the past here. In the late 2000’s I lived in Perth for 3 1/2 years. Loved living there. With the majority of my work being in web design, any print design projects that come my way are very welcome.

We wanted a stylish presentation/document folder for the sales staff to present quotations and flyers to their customers. I had come from a Macromedia Freehand (yes, I was an old hand at Freehand…) and while I had used Illustrator for several logo vector conversions, this was a deep dive into learning Adobe’s Illustrator — Adobe essentially merged Freehand features into Illustrator after their acquisition of Macromedia.

I constructed simple line-work illustrations of Press-brake and Section Roll machines, then set about putting it all together in a cohesive design. The whole folder was coated with a matte varnish; then to add some further interest and texture to the folder, the bright yellow image on the cover and the large typographic ‘Metalwork Machinery’ text on the back were over-printed with gloss UV varnish.

Applications used: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. From memory, 2000 of these were printed.
